In external conditions, steel can hold up to varying weather conditions and is almost 5x stronger than concrete or timber staircases.

Steel is chosen for countless applications across various industries because it ensures low maintenance costs, a long life and high recyclability rates.

Incredible Versatility

When creating projects you want a material that is incredibly versatile for your bespoke styles. Steel offers just that. If you are designing a staircase,  thought should be given to the usage of the staircase, location, layout, finishes, cladding, treads, handrail, balustrade, connections and importantly designed to meet the relevant building regulations & specifications.

Steel offers architects a far greater array of options when it comes to staircase design. When designing a staircase, thought should be given to the usage of the staircase, location, layout, finishes, cladding, treads, handrail, and balustrade.

Steel can be designed & manufactured into various shapes and styles to enable you to create the project you envisioned.

Great Economical Material

Steel doesn’t only make an excellent environmental choice, but it is a fantastic economical choice as well. Hygiene and Cleanliness

Stainless steel is one of the most hygienic materials around. It’s incredibly easy to clean and maintain, simply wipe with an all-purpose cleaner and a quick polish to make it shine and look as good as new.

This low maintenance material is a perfect choice for hospitals, kitchens, and other cleanliness areas.

Highly Durable

Stainless steel is very tough, and even lightweight stainless steel won’t buckle under great weight, making it one of the most durable metals on the market. It can endure weight, hot and cold temperatures as well as extreme weather conditional, making it practical for all year round.

Resistance

Did you know that stainless steel is corrosion resistant? It’s strong against corrosion, rust, water stains and much more! For anywhere with temperature and pressure extremes, this material would be perfect to withstand these conditions.

Chrome is added to stainless steel to fabricate it, which joins with oxygen in the air to create a film over the metal. This film repairs itself quickly when it is damaged, allowing the metal to resist corrosion and rust. The addition of other elements like nickel, titanium, and molybdenum enhances stainless steel’s corrosion-resistant properties even more.

Morgan Bros Successfully Meet Deadline Despite COVID Pandemic

The project to construct the biggest residential development outside London is coming to an end after a successful multi-year build.

The development, which is situated on Great Jackson Street in Manchester, includes over 6,300 residential apartments alongside restaurants, cafes and local convenience stores, and is widely considered a key component of the area’s regeneration.

The development will undoubtedly transform the skyline of Manchester City Centre and is part of a large-scale redevelopment of the area including several new high-rise buildings and thousands of apartments.

A successful working relationship between Morgan Bros and Renaker Build has been established for many years, with the Coppull-based metalwork specialists being a crucial component of the build on Great Jackson Street.

Mark Prendergast, the project manager from Morgan Bros, said; “Meeting deadlines efficiently and working effectively is part of the status quo for Morgan Bros, but our client was especially happy with the progress made by our team.

We manufactured and installed a bespoke steel staircase, various balustrade system, and an array of bespoke metalwork throughout the project. Taking notes from the architect to create a 3D design for our client to help them envisage how the result would look.

We worked on several phases of the development, manufacturing from our local workshop and using our in-house team to install.

Tom Morgan, one of the Directors from Morgan Bros, said; “Having worked with Renaker on previous projects it was a pleasure to continue the relationship and deliver on a such a large scale.

We proved that we could adapt and handle all requirements throughout the project and look forward to moving on to future projects.”

While Peter Cregeen from Renaker Build added: “We have used Morgan Brothers as our sole metal work supplier throughout the Deansgate Square development.

The works have ranged from multi million pound penthouse glass balustrades to a one off feature staircase in our leisure block through to the escape stair handrails. Coupled with this, they have supplied and installed large areas of external metal work (including a cantilevered deck above the River Medlock), gates and roof top structures and their business has coped with everything we have asked of them.

The service and quality is exceptional and with a suite of experienced operatives the install always happens in a logical and safe manner. The final ask of them for the scheme is a bespoke metal and timber balcony detail to our concierge space that not only is angled but runs down twin mid-spiral staircases.

I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending them for future work or projects.”

What Is Metalworking?

A common question in the architectural industry, metalworking is the process of working with metals to create individual parts, assemblies, or large-scale structures. There are many ways of shaping metal, including machining, forging, casting, and fabricating.

Did you know humans have been working metal for nearly 7000 years? Metalworking covers a huge variety of work across multiple industries and sectors, find out all you need to know about the metalworking process.

Common Metalworking Processes

As metalworking is used to a diverse level, it includes a wide range of skills, processes and tools.  Most commonly, metalworking is divided into the following three categories:

  • Cutting: a collection of processes where material is brought to a specified shape by removing excess using various kinds of tooling
  • Forming: modifying metal by deforming it i.e. forming does not remove any metal.  Forming is done with a system of mechanical forces and, especially for bulk metal forming, with heat
  • Joining: bringing two or more pieces of metal together by way of one or more different processes which include welding, brazing and soldering.

Common Tools

There are a variety of commonly used metalworking tools ranging from the) hammer and anvil through to complex tools including Fibre Lasers, punch presses, Salvagnini P4 panel benders, Amada Press Breaks and, MIG and TIG welding equipment. Here at Morgan Brothers, we purchase modern day machinery to enhance our services now including a complete glass production and powder coating service.

Working with metalworking tools, the people that operate them and their skills are as important as the tools and equipment they operate. All our employees are CSCS registered for site installation and we uphold an excellent Health & Safety record with Constructionline and CHAS Accreditation with safety being of the utmost importance at all times within our organisation.  We also uphold C E Marking and are on the approved list of subcontractors for the NHS.
