Laser Cutting & Powder Coating

Laser Cutting

Morgan Bros (Metalwork Solutions) Ltd are proud to announce the introduction of our new Amada Laser Cutting Machine.

Laser cutting works by directing the output of a high power laser, by computer, at the material to be cut. The material then, either melts, burns, vaporises away, or is blown away by a jet of gas, leaving an edge with a high quality surface finish. Industrial laser cutters are used to cut flat-sheet material as well as structural and piping materials.

Advantages of laser cutting over mechanical cutting include easier work holding and reduced contamination of work piece (since there is no cutting edge which can become contaminated by the material or contaminate the material). Precision is better since the laser beam doesn't wear during the process. There is also a reduced chance of warping the material that is being cut, as laser systems have a small heat-affected zone. Some materials are also very difficult or impossible to cut by more traditional means.

Our in house laser machine gives the capacity to cut from 0.5mm right up to 30mm thickness for various types of material including Mild Steel, Stainless Steel, Aluminium, Brass, Zintec, Galvanised, Titanium and many more. All ferrous and non-ferrous metals (excluding copper) can be cut. We use Nitrogen and Oxygen, which also gives faster cutting times than the average cutting process.

Computer CAD/CAM technology is used throughout the design process and programming of N C Codes. Our computer software allows complex components and nests to be programmed with great ease and efficiency.

Powder Coating

Morgan Bros has been manufacturing products since the early 1960’s. Our latest facilities consist of 2 areas covering some 60m², which are housed within the main factory unit.

Firstly, we have an online powder coating plant, consisting of a 30m continuous conveyor, which each pendant capable of carrying 30kg.

The conveyor travels through the online booth, which can accommodate a variety of assembles then directly into the 10.5m curing oven.

Our online booth, together with the close-coupled oven configuration offers a minimum chance of component contamination. It also affords generous areas for loading pre-finish and unloading finished components.

Within the finishing area, we also have light assembly and package facilities. Finished goods are dispatched directly from this area via either our own transport of contracted services.

We offer subcontract finishing as a standalone service in addition to our Sheet Metal Fabrication capacity together with hot dipped Galvanised finishes prior to powder coating.
